President's Message

As we begin to prepare for the ITEA Conference 2010, there are two general goals that the Steering Committee will concentrate on: membership growth and the Council’s Bylaw update.

In order to increase membership, a multi-faceted plan will be implemented that first concisely articulates who we are and what we do. As expressed in the CS handbook, the Council for Supervisors is a "leadership organization", whose membership is open to all technology education leaders. The Council for Supervisor’s welcomes people across your state, school district, and school, who influence Technology Education and the growth of our profession. I would like to invite all interested parties to join us at this year’s Forum in Charlotte and encourage those interested in joining to send your contact information to John Singer, Membership chair, who can be reached via email at, john.singer@bsd.k12.de.us. A personal invitation will be sent to all those interested in joining us.

This year's CS Forum Program at the ITEA Conference in Charlotte, NC follows in the established tradition of providing a professional series of workshops, discussions, business meeting, and social receptions. I thank everyone on the Steering Committee, for the many hours spent to ensure the quality of this year's program, and the ongoing commitment to improving the council’s leadership role within ITEA.

The forum sessions will focus on the issue of “Green Technology” mirrored with the ongoing challenge for educators to develop programs that meet the need for high skill, high pay, and high demand occupations, while instilling environmental concerns for our planet. As we continue to grow as an organization we will provide opportunities to discuss, question, share effective practices and interact with colleagues from the across the country to develop goals and action plans for leading our profession.

I would like to personally thank, Technology Education teachers and supervisors for all that you do. As seasoned educators, you are empowered leaders who have the best interest of students at heart.

Please continue to check the web site monthly as the Communications Committee will keep you informed of our program plans for the next year. I look forward to seeing you in Charlotte.
